Winter Solstice Peace Prayer Drum and Dance Circle

Save the date for our second annual Winter Solstice Peace Prayer Dance and Drum Circle! Gather in an interfaith community to put our bodies to the task of empowering our prayers for PEACE throughout the world. Everyone is welcome, including children with a supervisory participating adult. This event is offered in cahoots with the Gallatin Valley Interfaith Association. $20 suggested contribution per person. Half of proceeds will be donated to the United Religions Initiative.

Feel your heart open and your fire ignite with West African World Dance to live drumming! Over 6 weeks, Ginny Watts will lead our dance village through 3 heart-pumping choreos based on dances passed to her from her African teachers, weaving information about the cultural context of each dance into the experience. Together, we will flow through warm up, movement, and cool down, riding a current of rhythm. Stormi Oshun, Shaun Phoenix, Galen Eldridge, and friends will provide the grounding support of live drumming to honor and uplift novice and veteran dancers alike. Experience the power of dancing in a community we create, entrained to the calls of the drums!

Drum and Dance with Yamama! In a moving, grooving celebration of May Day, within a container of simple ritual, we will explore the Divine Feminine power, grace, sensuality, and energizing heat in our own bodies. Through World dance and drumming, drawn from West African movement and rhythms, our community will create a moving, electrifying circle honoring the approaching opulence of Summer within and all around. After an opening ritual, we will experience the magic of a facilitated drum circle, two West African World Dance classes to live drumming, and a hand drumming class exploring West African polyrhythms. We will end with a ritual circle closing. It will be a perfect time to Fire up for the abundance of Summer!
